Electronic trading firm IMC has quadrupled headcount in London in two years

Amsterdam-based electronic trading firm IMC Trading is relatively new to London. It opened an office in the city in 2023 and, as of 2024, had "20+" employees. It said in its 2025 annual report in March that the London office was "growing" but that appears to be an understatement; a spokesperson confirmed headcount is currently quadruple that, roughly 80 employees.

Among the arrivals over the past 19 months was Alex Ross, a Cambridge economics PhD and ex-Citi FX options trader who joined in May 2025. Pietro Pettiti, a former trader at DRW, joined in October. Non-trading hires included Sriram Satesh, a former Bank of America director, who joined the firm in a corporate coverage role in December.  

Other new arrivals in London are relocating from IMC's bigger offices. Jinru Li, who had worked as a trader across Amsterdam and Sydney, joined IMC's London office in March of this year. Koen Langemeijer, a senior trader, relocated to London from Chicago last June and was promoted to a trading lead earlier this year.

IMC London Services pays well compared to other electronic trading firms. Yearly accounts for one of its entities, released this week, show that IMC paid 38 employees a total of £16.8m in 'wages and salaries,' equivalent to £442k ($590k). Many rival firms haven't released accounts for 2025 yet, but the likes of Tower Research, DRW Trading and Virtu Financial all paid less than IMC in their most recent (2024) filings.
