Hedge fund Millennium's new Dubai-based Citadel PM is building a London team

As we reported earlier this week, Millennium has recruited Keisi Hysa, a Citadel portfolio manager focused on consumer stocks. Hysa's move appears to have been motivated by more than just the opportunity to swap one major multistrategy hedge fund for another: she's also understood to be moving to Dubai.

Millennium declined to comment on Hysa's move and relocation, but it's understood she'll be moving to Millennium's Dubai office while building a team of four or five people in London.

Millennium opened a Dubai office in 2020. It's thought to have around 20 portfolio managers there currently. Other recent recruits include Roland Dorp, who's joined from Intesa San Paolo and Adam Power, who joined from BlueCrest.

Citadel doesn't have a Dubai office. Portfolio managers like to work in Dubai because it's tax free and safe. However, there are also complaints that Dubai can be harsh and unforgiving. "There's very little job security," one portfolio manager told us in March. "You're here one day. The next day you may be gone."

Hysa will have a companion at Millennium in Dubai. Tim Woodward, who also worked for Citadel and who also specialises in consumer (and healthcare) stocks, joined in April. Woodward left Citadel in London in late 2023. Jobs disappear in Mayfair, too.

Hysa has joined Millennium as a senior portfolio manager after five years at Citadel. She previously worked for Bank of America in equity sales and equity research.
