Hedge fund Qube Research hired an ex-Citadel Securities trader as its US COO
Qube Research and Technologies rose to prominence over the past few years by hiring hundreds of people, all the while staying out of the US. The UK/France based quant fund, which returned ~30% last year, changed that by opening multiple US office since last summer. Qube has also been pushing into electronic market making, and its latest New York hire made her name at one of the biggest players in that space.

Holly Lau joined Qube as its US COO, based in New York. She previously spent eight years at Citadel Securities, where she was a senior trader and head of delta one and ADR. Lau left Citadel Securities in 2024; she was most recently COO at Summit Securities, a New York-based market maker and prop trading firm.
Qube already had a very small New York office. It also has a very small office in Chicago and a separate commodities trading entity called Q-TX based in Houston.
Qube has 16 openings in the New York, including an FPGA engineer and a crypto C++ developer. The roles offer salaries of up to $280k and $270k, respectively. Qube only has one opening in Chicago, also for an FPGA engineer, while Q-TX has three including one internship.
