Jain Global's Singapore senior macro PM quietly left in April. Maybe he's going to BlueCrest

Jain Global announced that it will be returning investor money and exclusively managing money for Millennium in April. Around the same time, a senior portfolio manager in Singapore left the fund.

Sant Gupta a senior portfolio manager at Jain Global in Singapore and one of the fund's earlier hires, left in April and has had a summer off. He didn't respond to our requests to elaborate on where he's going next. There are unconfirmed suggestions that he's off to join Mike Platt at BlueCrest.

Jain Global declined to comment on Gupta's departure. He was only there for two years after joining from Crescent Asset Management Asia. Prior to that he managed a global macro prop book for Nomura.

Gupta trades macro strategies with a focus on Asian FX. He appears to be aged in his mid-40s, making him older than Bobby Jain's "35-year-old killers." He is also older than Mike Platt's partners under 30. He may be wise.

Jain Global is expected to return other investors' money and to manage money only for Millennium from the third quarter of 2026. Business Insider reported in May that Jain's back office staff have been guaranteed compensation until the end of 2026.

Jain Global has also been hiring ahead of its change. It recently recruited Jon Stead, the head of high yield trading at Morgan Stanley. Stead is seemingly a replacement for Herbie Filho, whom it also recruited from Morgan Stanley's credit team but who left again last year for personal reasons.

Jain's other recent hires appear to include Avinesh Kumarp, a credit portfolio manager in Hong Kong who says he joined in June and appears to be in the appropriate killer age bracket.

Jain Global reportedly returned 3.9% year to date through to July.
