Merrill hiring for principal investments in Asia

Bloomberg reports that Merrill Lynch is looking to hire 36 people for its Asian principal investments team.

The news service says Merrill is aiming to double returns on its Asian principal investments in three years by buying a combination of corporate debt and equity and property, and by handling asset backed bonds.

15 of the 36 staff to be added will be in a real estate group under Tim Grady, who joined from Morgan Stanley in January.

Earlier this week, Morgan Stanley said it invested 3 billion rupees $68m in an Indian property developer.
